The alarm went off at 3 a.m. and for a while I was sure it was a mistake.
But there’s a specific kind of quiet you only get before an Icelandic sunrise — no wind yet, no birds, just the low hum of the ocean somewhere behind the ridge. I set up the tripod, waited, and the whole valley turned gold in about ninety seconds.
